I feel incredibly blessed to have been born in India – the land of thousands of stunning temples, where ancient wisdom flows through spirituality. And I am extremely proud to say that our temples are not just archeological landmarks but vibrant places of worship. Across India and Asia, you will find that the most breathtaking ancient temples are waiting to be discovered by you.
From Kedarnath in the north to Rameshwaram in the south, from Somnath in the west to Puri in the east, from the mystical ghats of Varanasi to the temples tucked away in the remotest Himalayan villages in India, every temple in India has a story of its own. While they stand as a strong testament to our ancestors’ wisdom and architectural capabilities, these ancient temples also serve as sacred spaces of self-reflection, mental purification, healing, transformation, spiritual awakening, and enlightenment.
Every single day several Indians and foreigners travel specially to visit the ancient temples and holy cities in India. You might have experienced or heard about the life-changing adventure of visiting temples in India and Asia. But have you ever asked yourself questions like – What was the purpose behind building the spectacular architecture? Why did our ancestors spend their time and money in building these majestic temples? And why do so many people continue to visit these spiritual destinations even today? Why do millions of souls visit holy cities like Kashi or Rishikesh in India? And what exactly is found here?
The people in India, while visiting temples and spiritual destinations, say that “बुलावा आया है” which means, “an invitation has come.”
We must admit that there is some undeniable power in these places that attracts millions of visitors every day, time after time. Sometimes it doesn’t invite you until and unless your perfect time comes.
“Know that there must be a manifestation of God in places where countless people have practiced austerity. From time immemorial numerous devotees of realization have come to these Holy places to have the vision of God. Therefore, God, though equally present everywhere, manifests Himself especially in these places the same water can be had anywhere by digging in the ground, but where there is a tank or a lake, one does not have to dig for water but can get it whenever one likes” – Ramakrishna Paramahamsa
